I’ve had a pretty terrible week!
It started out last weekend when I was still sick from Heroes and my AC was broken in Atlanta on the hottest day ever on record. That was not fun, but I was brave.
Then on Monday my parents called. They wanted to buy me a new washer and dryer! There are all sorts of reasons for this but I will not go into them. Suffice it to say it was a generous enough offer that you are now wondering how this week could possibly be bad.
Tuesday was just a day.
On Wednesday the guy came to fix the AC, HALLELUJAH! Only, no, I have a leaky compression coil. They will order the part and my home warranty company will get back to me. I will remain hot for an undetermined amount of time.
On Thursday my new washer and dryer were delivered! Only no, wait. My house was built thirty years ago, so they don’t fit in the closet. I send them back, but the old washer and dryer are not hooked back up. My father and I go back to the store only to discover that we pretty much had the smallest full size dryer available to begin with. We set a new delivery date, and I make plans to do laundry elsewhere.
On Friday morning I wake up to discover that one of the spigots that provides water to the washer is leaky! My upstairs is flooded, as is my first floor. I take the day off of work. I call professionals, who come tear up my floors and set up dryers and dehumidifiers. My already hot house becomes hotter. I take my cats to be boarded for the weekend, and I sleep at a friend’s house.
On Saturday I have not heard back about my AC, so I call. The warranty company will cover parts and labor, but since my furnace is close to thirty years old it will require $600 worth of modifications to install a modern coil, which is not covered. I sleep at a friend’s house.
On Sunday I got to my house to discover that a combination of no AC and industrial dehumidifiers has cranked the temperature inside up to 109 degrees. My thermostat rolls over, as it cannot display over 100. Every surface in the house is uncomfortably hot to the touch. My deodorant has melted. I sleep at a friend’s house.
Thankfully, most of the damage will be covered by my insurance. However, I have a $1000 deductable, at least $600 for AC repair, and other expenses such as the cost of boarding the cats. Therefore, I’ve decided to try out a little fundraising campaign:
WATERCOLORS FOR WATER DAMAGE
I’m opening up commissions once again, this time doing two levels of watercolors. Both are on 4”x6” 140lb watercolor paper.
The first level is an art nouveau sort of piece for $40. These will be similar to the one seen above and the one I did the other day. This can be of any fictional person or of you/a loved one and can include one 3-5 letter word (excluding any slurs or anything that makes me uncomfortable, which is admittedly not a lot).
The second level is a single character watercolor for $25. This is a single fictional character with a simple background that will definitely look better than the one in the picture above. It can be either an off-model superhero (such as the above Spiderman, this extra classy Rogue, or any other character who kicks ass and takes names and I can find a reference for online) or your favorite Best Show character (preferably one you can provide some reference for or description of).
There is also a third option, which is to make a donation of any amount that you want. Anything over five dollars will get a little doodle from me as a thank you.
Order your commissions through PayPal here or by clicking the Store link at the top of the page. And please keep in mind that though I will spend pretty much every not-at-work, not-dealing-with-my-house moment working on these, it may be a couple of weeks before they get sent out. If it’ll be much longer than that I’ll be sure to email you.
Thanks so much for all your help!
Hey who wants some art slash also to reblog this for other people who want art?
